By Eric Granstrom

For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. Twice in the past week I've been confronted with needing a good old fashioned road map in my truck and to bone up on my geography. While visiting my daughter in her new home in Western Washington last week, I leaned too heavily on the map app on my phone to get me there. Returning from a trip to Cabela's in Lacey, my phone freaked out and had me get off the highway somewhere in Auburn in a residential area. Then, it died. My daughter's house is in Kent and I had no clue if I needed to go north or south. Luckily I headed north and found the cross-street and lucked into finding her house where I'd left my phone charger. Last weekend I was using my map app again to find a remote cabin in Okanogan County. It worked great until I lost phone service and found myself in the dark, 25-minutes from my destination with no map to help me get there. I'm getting a map! Thursday I'll have more on an evening fishing expedition Marion and I took below Rocky Reach Dam. Congrats to Kate McCamey (pictured) on her first-ever salmon. Until next time, Good Fishing!
