For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. A few years ago, Austin Moser invited Dave and I to come out with him to fish sturgeon just below Rock Island Dam. It had been years since I'd fished sturgeon last with my grandfather below the Astoria Bridge on the Columbia River and I'd heard Austin was putting people onto some monsters, so why not? I knew Dave was a very good sturgeon fisherman after he caught several while drift fishing for salmon in the lower Columbia off the mouth of the Deschutes. Just kidding Dave! We launched on the Chelan County side at the Yo Yo Rocks Public Access. Take the Tarpiscan Road off the Coluckum Road past the end of the Malaga/Alcoa Highway. We ran up to a spot just below the spillway of the dam and anchored on the Lee Lock Anchor System. It wasn't long before Dave tied into a 9-footer. I caught a 6-footer. Then Dave caught a 10-footer. I lost a big one as we motored towards the shallows and then it was Dave's turn for a monster. He fought it for 31-minutes before it finally broke off. It was at least 12-feet! See the video on our YouTube page. Until next time, Good Fishing!
