The Quincy Valley Chamber of Commerce is having their annual Pike Minnow Derby, and this year it will be held on May 17th through the 19th. This popular derby invites anglers to catch as many pike minnows as they can and win cash and prizes for doing it. The top grand prize in the raffle this year will be 2017 Smokercraft Voyager boat with a 25 hp motor. There is a $500.00 cash prize for the biggest pike minnow turned in and there will be trophies and other prizes for the kids. This is a very “family friendly” derby. Derby headquarters is at Crescent Bar and the first 20 campsites reserved are free. You can register for the event right now by going to the Quincy Valley Chamber web site and looking under Events. All the rules, maps and other details will be found here, too. You can also get tickets for the derby at Hooked on Toys in Wenatchee, Quincy Hardware Lumber in Quincy or at Sportsman’s Warehouse in East Wenatchee. The Pike Minnow Derby not only provides a weekend of fun fishing for prizes, it helps remove these predators that feed on salmon and steelhead smolt, and really improves their survival.
