By Eric Granstrom

For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. A note to fishermen planning to go after Kokanee, Chinook or Mackinaw on Lake Chelan this weekend, you'll have some very loud company. The Norm Evans Memorial Apple Cup Regatta is Saturday and Sunday, featuring up to 40 hydroplane boats racing around off Don Morse Park. Racing is set to begin at 10am each morning. Of course, if you're up lake the hydroplanes shouldn't bother you. I will be pointing the bow of the Lund to Grant County and Billy Clapp Lake. It's been years since I fished with Dave and Kelsey Hilderbrand on the 6-mile reservoir behind Pinto Dam. We caught some great looking Kokanee on our trip, which included one of the funniest episodes in all my years fishing with Dave. Kelsey was landing a fish when one of our other rods caught on the bottom. Dave thought he'd freed it and laid it down, only to have the rod suddenly lurch overboard. In a split second, Dave was overboard trying to save it. Only problem was he had the controller for the bowmount on his wrist. Once we stopped laughing, Kelsey and I retrieved Dave from the drink. Until next time, Good Fishing!
