By Eric Granstrom

For FishiingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. For my money, the best fishing right now is Billy Clapp Lake in Grant County. My wife Marion and I just spent last weekend fishing an evening and a day there and it was incredibly fun, and productive. Billy Clapp Lake is a reservoir behind Pinto Dam about 10-miles east of Soap Lake off State Route 28. Marion and I arrived last Saturday evening at about 6:30. There was a boatload of fisherman just finishing for the day and their report was not good. They said they'd been out for five hours and didn't get anything. Undeterred, we launched our 18-foot Lund Fisherman and headed out for an evening tour. Leaving the launch and heading out onto the water, you'll see Pinto Dam to your right. Head left and up lake and you'll see a basalt island up and to the right. It's a short run (about 2-miles) and is where we would focus our attention. The last time I fished Billy Clapp was about 10-years ago with Graybill and we'd found some really nice Kokanee. And after reading Dave's article April 26th I knew I wanted to try again. More on our trip Thursday. Until next time, Good Fishing!
