I just returned from the annual group fishing trip that my wife and I host once a year. We took folks that were from East Wenatchee, Brewster, Whidbey Island to Rancho Cucamonga, California to Belize in Central America. The destination this year was Placencia, Belize, on the southern coast. I traveled there last November and found Roberts Grove Resort and met Wayne Castellanos, who was the head guide. He made sure that each day that we fished we had excellent guides for our people and my wife and me. We fished from 23-foot pangas and had two anglers per boat. I started two days on the Monkey River and got a tarpon on a fly each day. Most of the time on the water was spent on the distant reef. We would stop at a small island where the guides cast nets for bait and then trolled the live bait right on the surface. The fishing was terrific, and the variety of fish caught was amazing. One day our boat boated at least nine different species. Everything from snapper to jacks to barracuda would hit the baits. Everyone was so thrilled with the fishing that we are going again next year!
