For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. So we've been experiencing a blood moon lately. But what is that and is it good for fishing? Actually, now I'm told it was a Super Blue Blood Moon. The cosmic event -- a combination of lunar eclipse, blood moon and super moon -- was visible in the western hemisphere for the first time in 152 years. People in Australia, Asia and parts of Russia were treated to the lunar triple whammy during moonrise on January 31, while the show kicked off in North America from 2:51 a.m. our time. So what does this mean for fishing? Well, if you got out Wednesday you probably had a really good day. According to our friends at Farmer's Almanac, "the best times to fish are when the fish are naturally most active. For example, fish tend to feed more at sunrise and sunset, and also during a full moon. Fishing is best during the time between a new moon and a full moon." According to fishing lore. Next up is February 15th through March 1st. Of course, just when I have THIS weekend off. May be Punxsutawney Phil will help me out! Until next time, Good Fishing!
