By Eric Granstrom

For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. I turn 50 tomorrow. I'm not exactly sure what to think about this milestone birthday. I've tried several times to put it into context, but each time I refuse to allow mind to go there. How can I be 50? I remember as a kid thinking 40 was old. 50 must have seemed ancient! Yet, here I am. This is midlife crisis time, right? Am I supposed to run out and buy a sports car? Get hair plugs? Nah. It's just another trip around the sun. I guess the one thing 50-years has taught me is to slow down a little. I think about things way more before I do them. Something as simple as opening a can of paint. When I was younger, I would have just opened it. Now, I slow down and think, "OK, what's going to possibly happen when I open this can? I should do it over here and put this rag down so if it spills, it won't make a mess." Yep, that's it. I plan for my goofs more. They're still going to happen, I'm just a little more prepared. Oh! And I'm so thankful...for everything! Until next time, Good Fishing!
