By Eric Granstrom

For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. I was pulling double duty Tuesday for the TV station as well as for this report. Through NCWLIFE Channel, I planned to travel to Brewster to cover the first round of the Washington State Golf Association Men's Amateur Championship at Gamble Sands. While in the area, I thought I'd drop down to the pool and see what was going on with the fishery. I arrived at Gamble Sands, which is just north of the intersection of US97 and State Route 17 between Brewster and Bridgeport. The Gebbers family has built a top-10 golf course in the country on the sandy plateau above the Columbia River there. It is fantastic. It's truly links style golf with tons of roll, but playable for the average duffer like me. After spending the morning at Gamble Sands, I went down to the water's edge at Columbia Cove to check out the fishing. It was 11 o'clock and most of the boats were done fishing for the day. On the water, there was only 17-boats doing the king troll off the mouth of the Okanogan River. It was hot, smoky, and not very fishy. But it was also late in the day. Until next time, Good Fishing!
