Here are a couple of items in the mark your calendar category. Anglers that are fishing the Wells Dam Pool should be aware that starting on September 4th, the reservoir will be drawn down six feet. The low water conditions will continue through the month. The drawdown is necessary to remove the culverts/dikes on Cassimer Bar to restore flood plain function on the Okanogan River. Boaters are advised to use caution as many previously unseen hazards may now be exposed. Also, the annual Pike Minnow Derby conducted by the Quincy Valley Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by Grant County PUD is happening again this September. Starting on Friday, September 21st and running through Sunday the 23rd, this derby is fun for the whole family. Derby participants do us all a favor by removing pike minnows from the Columbia River. There will be over $30,000 in cash and prizes hand out this year. Come on down to Crescent Bar and catch as many pike minnows as you can! You can register on line and get all the details by visiting the Quincy Valley Chamber’s web site and look under Events.
