While kokanee can sometimes be hard to find on Lake Roosevelt right now, anglers are having good success on Lake Chelan. I am getting reports of limits of kokanee being caught on Chelan. According to Anton Jones at Darrell Dads Family Guide Service, the action is good near the Yacht Club. This is the earliest I have ever heard of good fishing for kokanee on Chelan. Last year I fished with Jeff Witkowski for kokanee at the Yacht Club in December, which is the earliest I had ever been on Chelan. We got a limit of kokanee. Anglers are trolling squidder style lures behind dodgers for the fish and I would suggest that you start by dropping your gear down to 100 feet and then watch the finder to see what depth the fish are most abundant. I am also hearing that people are getting some cutthroat mixed in with their kokanee catches. The cutthroat fishing last spring was terrific on Chelan and it looks like they are going to be around in very good numbers again this season. I am trying to get up to Chelan as soon as I can, and when I do I will give you a detailed report on how I do on the kokanee and cutts.
