By Dave Graybill

Kokanee anglers were disappointed in the action, including me and my fishing partner Gary Feil, last Wednesday morning. We launched at Mill Bay and ran up lake and found a pretty good fleet working the water above the Monument. We pulled in, thinking that the fishing must be good here. We did see a couple caught, but got not a sniff. We ran further up lake and got into a good flurry of bites for a while. We got five good hits, but only landed two fish, that were 12 and 13 inches. I talked to other anglers and they were all having a tough time, with only a fish or two. Shane Magnuson swung by on his way down lake to report that he had taken a dozen fish first thing in the early morning and then it flat died. We were all fishing at about 115 feet in about 300 feet of water. Gary I were trolling our favorite spinners and blades from Kokabow Fishing Tackle. Others were trying hoochies and dodgers. I think the fishing will be much better by the weekend, with a string of warm days ahead. We happened to time our trip right after a pretty good dip in temperature from the day before. Get there early, and you’ll do fine. Don’t forget the sunscreen!
