On Saturday, April 16th there is a great opportunity to “tune up” for the opening of the lowland trout season opener that starts the following weekend. The annual Rock Island Kids Free Fishing Day offers families a day of fishing fun for their kids under the age of 15 at the Juvenile Pond. Pit Lake will be loaded with trout for the annual event, and the Wenatchee Sportsmen’s Association will be there to help make sure the kids have good chance of catching fish. Volunteers from the community will be there with free hot dogs, snacks and drinks. The official hours of the event are from 9 a.m. till noon. The third annual Banks Lake Triple Fish Challenge will be held at Coulee Playland on April 23rd and 24th. Anglers will be challenged to catch a rainbow trout, a smallmouth bass and a walleye each day of the event to win cash and prizes. You can learn all about this derby and even register on line by visiting www.grandcouleedam.org. Also on April 23rd is the Catch Rainbow $50,000.00 Derby at Wapato Lake. There will be a cash prize for the biggest rainbow for adult and youth participants, and a chance to win $50,000.00 in cash. Visit www.moretomanson.com for all the details.
