If you plan to fish the opening weekend of the general trout opener and are wondering where you should go for the best fishing, here are some suggestions. According to the Department of Fish and Wildlife, the two lakes that should provide excellent action and big fish in Grant County are Park and Blue lakes, which north of Soap Lake. Both of these lakes were rehabbed two years ago and will really be hitting their stride this season. The lakes have received heavy stocks of catchable and fly-size rainbow, brown trout and tiger trout to bolster the ‘09 season, and they got some triploids just prior to the opener to spice the action. Another lake that is near Park and Blue that could be a special one this year is Deep Lake. This lake also received special plants that included some triploids, too. Deep Lake has a small parking area for boats and trailers, but offers some good shoreline fishing that is accessed by trails along the south shore of the lake. Good news for anglers at popular Fish Lake near Lake Wenatchee is that the ice is off and it should be primed for good trout fishing on opening weekend.
