If you enjoy fly fishing and are a beginner or even an expert there is a date to mark on your calendar. On May 1st and 2nd the 2009 Washington Fly Fishing Fair will be held in Ellensburg, and there will something for everyone at this year’s fair. There is a full schedule of programs and seminars that will instruct fly anglers on everything from fly tying to casting, and even on how to fish certain kinds of water or certain patterns of flies. There will be casting contests that even have categories for the non-professional. Registration is free to FFF members and only five bucks to those who aren’t. To learn more about the event and to register on-line visit the web site at washingtoncouncilfff.org. There is also a banquet on Saturday evening that includes a sumptuous dinner and auction. Fly fishers who want to get out on the water and practice their skills, there are a bunch of very attractive options in our region right now. The quality lakes near Beverly, namely Lenice and Nunnally are both producing the best in years, with many very large rainbow coming from the lakes. I haven’t heard much from Dusty this year, but it should be getting in gear soon. Lenore is starting to cook.
