By Eric Granstrom

For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. Sometimes, the fish gods smile upon you and provide a gift. Other times, you feel like you must have really done something wrong. Years ago I was going through some tough times personally and needed to get the heck out of town for a few days. Not knowing of my destination, I pointed my car west. Nearly three hours later, I ended up at my parent's house. Dad suggested the thing I needed was some time on the water. He offered up my brother's 20-foot Olympic and said he heard the Silvers were showing up in Puget Sound. I loaded up, grabbed some gear and a couple sandwiches and headed for Anacortes to launch at Washington Park. I figured at least the salt air would help clear my mind. I totally lucked into the tide and had enough water on a hold-up to launch. I ran around the corner, put some Coho flies behind a flasher and put two rods out on downriggers. Before I knew it, I was fighting a beautiful Silver. I had my limit in no time and a completely new outlook on life. Until next time, Good Fishing!
