By Dave Graybill

A holiday weekend is coming up, and I have been thinking about where I have gone in the past, what I may suggest that people do. One of the places my wife and I found to be a great place to get away to on busy weekends was Curlew Lake. There is a very nice State Park on the lake and the fishing for trout and largemouth bass is very good. There are tiger muskie in the lake as well. Right in the middle of the state is Potholes Reservoir. I just came across a photo that was taken on September 2nd a few years ago, with me holding a big walleye taken on Potholes. The fishing for smallmouth and largemouth bass is very good on Potholes this time of year, as is the fishing for big bluegill and crappie. Just north of Moses Lake is Park Lake. This is a very large park with a big boat launch and docks that people can fish from. I am getting reports of terrific fishing for big perch on both Park Lake and Blue Lake this year, and the fall is great time to get them. I hope everyone has a safe and fun Labor Day!
