By Eric Granstrom

For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. Marion and I left after work Friday to make the 265-mile drive to the Washington coast to join my sister, soon-to-be brother-in-law and friends for a weekend of clam digging. The others were already at camp long before we arrived and had clammed on the beach where we stayed in Oceana. My sister Sonja reported that she stuck to her guns and worked hard for her 20-clam limit. The boys decided to bag it after 5-clams and head back to camp for beers. Our pilgrimage was delayed by typical Friday traffic on I-5 and we arrived in camp just before they closed the gate at the Thousand Trails at 10pm. The folks there were really accommodating as we called periodically throughout our adventure to let them know we were stuck in traffic. After a good night's sleep, we ventured north towards Moclips. The first stop landed us in sand shrimp heaven. Our second try put us on the clams with Marion finding the first one. Then it was game-on as we all limited out in about an hour. Back at camp, we cleaned 120 clams, ate like kings and slept well. Until next time, Good Fishing!
