For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. If you go to our Facebook page for this report, you'll see a photo I borrowed from Jim Peterson on the Wenatchee Fisherman's Forum showing his grandson's first fish. As he says, "earning his Jr. man card." It reminded me of when my daughter Gracie was born. My parents showed up at the hospital and Dad had a little Barbie fishing pole for her. I held onto it for about three or four years until she was big enough to use it. We practiced in the back yard as she'd cast the plastic, weighted fish that came with it and reel it back in. Her first fish came on a cold day in the spring at Wapato Lake near Lake Chelan. I'd heard the trout plant in the lake had been really good, so we took our 14-foot Livingston up for a try. The wind was blowing so rowing was difficult, so I anchored up and helped Gracie do some still fishing. It wasn't long before that little Barbie pole was bent over with her first fish. She panted and puffed reeling and we finally pulled in a 13-inch rainbow. Nothing better than a child's first fish. Until next time, Good Fishing!
