For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. If I wasn't going clam digging this weekend, I'd be up on Lake Chelan chasing kokanee. I got a call the other day from a fishing friend who had just come back from Chelan and he too reported that the fish are the biggest he's seen in the lake in 10-years. He said they were consistently finding good-sized fish towards the bottom in 85-feet of water. In fact, he said they were using downriggers with two rods and dropper balls with two other rods and it wasn't until they dropped the led to the bottom and reeled up a few feet that those rods became productive. The fish were from 13" to 15" with a few at 17". I also got a good report from Lake Roosevelt that anglers were finding kokanee and good-sized rainbow with the bite coming on while the lake fills. So there's plenty of reason to get your kokanee gear out and get fishing. As far as terminal tackle, Kokabow and Mack's Lures blades with short leaders tied to mini, pink hoochies were the trick with orange-dyed corn scented with Slammin' Sam's Anti-Pro XXX. Until next time, Good Fishing!
