By Eric Granstrom

For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. I was fortunate enough to grow up not far from Puget Sound. I could be at the water's edge in about 35-minutes from our house east of Mount Vernon. A three hour's drive and I could be at the Washington coast. I was reminded of how much I miss the salty air last weekend when we ventured west for some clam digging. As we topped the hill coming into Aberdeen, I could smell the mixture of seaweed and salt. The powerful aroma brought back a flood of memories all vying for space in my brain as I tried concentrating on my driving. After shutting the rumbling engine off after backing into our camping spot, I could immediately hear the crash of the surf not far away. I imagined what that must have been like for those on the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Can you imagine how scary that must have been to be close enough to something you can't see but can hear this crashing sound? Sitting with my bare feet in the sand on the beach the next day, I just stared out into the waves and breathed. The sea is calling. Until next time, Good Fishing!
