By Eric Granstrom

For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. The Department of Fish and Wildlife Commission begins the first of three days of meetings in Wenatchee today. A wide-ranging agenda will include quite a few opportunities for public input. If you'd like your voice heard on a specific topic, you need to pre-register before you can speak. They'll be discussing management plans for hunting and fishing, habitat conservation and restoration, as well as land acquisitions and sensitive wildlife. One item set for discussion Saturday that has become a hot-button issue is the spring bear hunt in Washington. The Commission was deadlocked on this a year ago and decided to cancel the spring bear hunt in our state despite staff recommendations to continue the hunts. With recent additions to the Commission, they now have a full contingency to vote on the issue and it looks like they'll do so in the meeting beginning Saturday morning at 9am. I thought this would all be held at the Convention Center in Wenatchee but is instead being held at the Confluence Technology Center at Olds Station. The link to register to testify before the Commission is on our Facebook page today. Until next time, Good Fishing!
