For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. OK, everybody sing along..."Oh baby it's cold outside." While I sit in my nice, warm home doing this report, it's 7-degrees outside. We have more snow in the forecast and frigid cold temperatures coming tonight with wind chill factors possibly reaching to -45. We were talking around the office here this past week about how cold it's been and how it seems very early in the year for the temperatures to be this low. I mean, after all, isn't it normally January and February when we hit single digits or below here in Eastern Washington? I looked it up through the National Weather Service and, sure enough, it's colder than usual. The weather station in Wenatchee recorded temperatures in November, on average, 5-degrees lower than normal and through the first day of December is 7-degrees below normal. The good news for those who love to fish through the ice is that you should have plenty of places from which to choose to go right now. Careful though, skin and lung exposure in these extreme conditions can be damaging. The wind, no matter how layered your clothes, can also cause hypothermia. Until next time, Good Fishing!
