By Eric Granstrom

For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. I grew up the son of a very hard-working man. My Dad was a logger and commercial fisherman. We lived from season-to-season, and I learned early that fishing and hunting were a necessity to put food in the freezer. I didn't learn until I was in my late 20's that the two pastimes could be considered hobbies or sport. Sure, Dad taught us how to be sportsmen in how we treat fish and game and respect each species and to be conservationists. But to fish or hunt for fun was not in our lexicon. Don't get me wrong, I had a ton of fun getting out and trying to out-wit whatever it was we were after. But to catch and release fish for fun was not in our makeup. As a result, I never really allowed myself to dream of the possibility of trying for exotic game fish such as tarpon, Mahi-Mahi, or marlin. I wouldn't know the first thing about HOW to fish them so a guide would be necessary. Who knows, maybe a tarpon on a fly rod is in my future. We shall see. Until next time, Good Fishing!
