By Eric Granstrom

For FishingMagician.com I'm Eric Granstrom. This is the time of year I put away my rods and reels for a week and pick up my rifle and hunt for deer. I was able to get the multi-season deer tag this year, so the pressure is not exactly high for me to get out there this week. I did head up to join my buddy Jimmy Grover and his wife Ann and several of their friends at their deer camp last weekend off the Loop Loop highway. Over the years, my attitude has changed as far as the purpose of deer camp. When I was younger, deer camp was all about making sure you do your best to fill the freezer. Now days, deer camp is more about the time spent with others around a fire, sharing stories and beverages and spending some quality time in the great outdoors. One in our group, Jeff Henderson, was lucky enough to bag a nice 4-point mule deer. I had a beauty in my scope at first light Sunday morning but passed because I didn't have an ethical shot. So, no meat yet but it's a long season for me. Until next time, Good Hunting!
