For FishingMagician.com I'm Eric Granstrom. Marion had some friends staying the weekend at The Cove Resort at Fish Lake last weekend so we grabbed the camper and boat and headed up. I had a chance to visit with Scott and Nadine for a few minutes after we arrived Saturday afternoon. They showed me a picture of a kokanee a fisherman brought up from Fish Lake! It was undoubtedly a kokanee and Scott said he'd contacted Travis Maitland with the Department of Fish and Wildlife to do a little research. Scott said he's been at Fish Lake now since 1961. You talk about a guy who's seen a few things and knows every inch of that fishery. So when you go to pay to launch or pitch a tent, be sure to visit with Mr. West about what the fish are biting on and he'll tell you. For Marion and I, the wind decided to come up just as we launched Saturday afternoon. We caught a few small perch. We listened to debris fall on the camper all night long from continuous winds and tried again Sunday with gusts to 20. Again, more small perch but a great time on the water.
