By Eric Granstrom

For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. I met Dave at his house at 6:30 Tuesday morning. Dave's 5-minutes from the parking lot at the Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery. Upon our arrival, only one other truck was in the parking lot. The gentleman immediately recognized Dave and introduced himself as the "magician who fishes", adding that he tended bar in Wenatchee and Leavenworth for years while doing magic tricks. Dave and I settled onto the platform and began casting jigs to a current line about 25-feet out. You could easily see fish slowly swimming around in the hole below us with an occasional flip of a tail or dorsal fin on the surface. The other "magician" hooked into a nice, bright Coho, which Dave helped him land with a net. Shortly thereafter I twitched my purple and black Mustad Addicted Tailout jig through the hole and got whacked. I grabbed the net while keeping tension and made my way down the bank to awkwardly land my first-ever fall-run, Icicle River Coho. I noticed Dave was shivering in the 26-degree temperatures, so we headed home. The fish cut nicely, as you'll see on our Facebook page today. Until next time, Good Fishing!
