It’s an exciting day here in Central Washington. Sockeye fishing opens above Priest Rapids Dam. There will be a rush to the ramp at Wanapum Dam as the season kicks off. Fishing along the riprap below the dam is one of the best places to get sockeye. In recent seasons the fishing below Rocky Reach Dam has been good, too. I want to remind anglers that there are boundaries where fishing is allowed below this dam and advise folks to go to the web site for the Chelan County PUD to see these areas where you can fish safely. Also, there is a new app that gives the current water conditions and flows at both Rocky Reach and Rock Island dams. An easy way to get to the Chelan PUD web site is to click on the App or PUD banners on the Home Page of my web site at www.fishingmagician.com. There will also be a lot of anglers fishing below Wells Dam. The parade of boats in the big eddy across from the old launch is where you’ll find the fish. If everyone keeps in line and doesn’t “go against the grain” this can be a very fun place to fish and limits of sockeye can come quickly.
