By Eric Granstrom

For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. Sometimes, the work to prepare to be on vacation leaves you so exhausted, you waste the first few days of your vacation recovering. Such was the case for me last week while Marion and I settled in to our annual pilgrimage to the coast at Grayland. An interesting wrinkle thrown into this year's adventure was the fact that Marion sold our camper two days before we left. Which is fine because I know how she rolls, but it meant tent camping for the trip. Which I also had no problem with until my back decided to try going out the day we left. Let's just say I was more than happy to crawl into a real bed upon our return and really look forward to Marion finding us another camper! I'd planned to learn more about surf fishing while in Grayland. Which I did. I fished for several tides with zero results. What I learned from the locals is to look for birds. If you see pelicans or seagulls working the surf, you know there's bait fish, which means larger fish. Bird Count? Nada. Fish bites? Nada. But I learned something. Until next time, Good Fishing!
