If you haven’t heard the good news, fishing for adult hatchery Chinook salmon has reopened from Rocky Reach Dam to below Wells Dam. Anglers should expect very good fishing for kings in all three of these areas. Beginning on August 1st fishing will open from above Wells Dam to Chief Joseph Dam. Now anglers can bring their Chinook gear and fish for both adult hatchery kings and sockeye. The reopening for the season in the Brewster Pool was delayed until August 1st to allow the Colville Tribe time to concentrate on gathering brood stock for their hatchery at Bridgeport. Remember, the Colville’s are releasing close to 3 million salmon from the hatchery that we all get a shot at. Also, even more good news: the Brewster Derby is back on! The folks at the derby told me that they will be able to provide all the prize money for the derby winners and the side pots, and they will be ready to go on August 3rd. Even if you registered earlier, you need to reregister. Be sure to do this right away. You will have until 5 p.m. on August 1st to do this on-line but do the derby people a favor and do it before then.
