By Dave Graybill

For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. We celebrated Veterans Day last weekend. It reminded me of a story I shared on Facebook Saturday and thought I'd share it here too. When Gracie was about 8, it was a Veteran's Day Weekend that I picked her up from her Mom's house in Twisp. Settling into the center of the back seat so I could see her in the rear view mirror, Gracie told me about her week and school and kids on the playground. The usual banter to begin the hour and a half car ride from Twisp to Wenatchee. I asked her if her school had done anything special for Veterans Day. She said, "no." I took the next 50-miles to teach Gracie about Veterans, and service, and freedom and a brief history of the United States. We were in Orondo when I'd exhausted my diatribe and Gracie suddenly said, "Daddy! Stop the car!" I pulled over to see if she was OK. She said, "Dad, we should say the Pledge of Allegiance RIGHT NOW!!!" There we stood beside the car, facing the American flag at the post office, saying the Pledge of Allegiance. A proud Papa! Until next time, Good Fishing!
