Summer-run salmon numbers returning to the upper Columbia River continue to climb every day, and that’s good news for anglers who plan to fish in the 4th Annual Budweiser Lowrance King Salmon Derby in Brewster. Angler success in this derby has always been high and with the better-than-average return of fish to the Brewster Pool, the odds of landing a prize-winning fish are very good this year. The derby is scheduled for July 31st through August 2nd this year and there will be over $15,000 in cash and prizes handed out. To learn more about the derby, log onto brewstersalmonderby.com, or you can call 509-429-0277. Derby tickets are still just $35.00 for adults and $25.00 for those aged 14 and under. Registrations will be accepted through Thursday, July 30th. New this year is a special barbeque on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. You will be able to get salmon plate, including corn on the cob and Indian fry bread for just five bucks! That will be worth hanging around for. In addition to the prizes awarded to successful anglers there will be lots and lots of raffle items at the derby, too.
