I head for the Icicle River outside of Leavenworth in the afternoon and early evening. The temperature is at least ten degrees cooler up this scenic valley. I wade the stream in my shorts and wading shoes and cast to the small rainbow that are plentiful in the stream. It is a great way to cool down and wind down at the end of the day. Some other stream options are the Entiat River above Entiat Falls, the Methow River and the White River at Lake Wenatchee. You don’t need any fancy gear, just a love for the way these little trout attack a fly or spinner. My wife and I like to take a picnic dinner along and enjoy it at streamside.
