Reports of very good summer-run salmon fishing just keep on coming from anglers fishing here in Central Washington on the upper Columbia River. The Brewster Pool and Wells Dam are both producing at about the same pace, but there is a big difference on how to approach these two spots. You must be one the water before light if you want to get in on the bite at Brewster. There is a short window and it will come between 4:30 and 6:30 in the morning. For those who like to sleep in a little, Wells Dam will produce later in the morning and well into the late afternoon and evening. Both spots are producing fish for anglers who troll the flasher and Super Bait combo. I saw a photo the other day of a king that weighed 40 pounds on the wall at Hooked on Toys in Wenatchee, and that will get any salmon angler excited—fresh or salt water. Don’t forget, when you get a fish at Wells or from the Brewster Pool, take it to the Triangle Shell. Bob there will weigh it and photograph it and you will qualify for some great weekly prizes and big money for the grand prize in September.
