Well, I made it home from Belize, and I can say with all honesty I wonder why I left. Really, it was a great trip in every respect. Not only did we make all our connections it turned out that we picked a place that was on the best bone fishing flats on the whole island! We started out our first day walking the beach and casting to these fish and I hooked three and landed two the very first time I tried it. Wow. We also happened to hit the best weather and fishing conditions for tarpon fishing the first time out. I hooked six and landed three my first time trying for these fish. What a thrill. I got a chance to fish with a friend one day and we caught two nice barracuda in one of the channels. My next try at tarpon wasn’t as good. We saw very few fish and the fly I was casting just wasn’t what they wanted that particular day. My wife Eileen filmed a dolphin playing the bow wake of our boat on this trip, and it was so close it splashed the camera! My advise is try Belize, you’ll like it!
