If it hasn’t opened already, the upper Columbia between Rocky Reach Dam and Wells Dam should open to steelhead fishing soon. There are a bunch of steelhead in the stretch. The area above Rocky Reach should be well populated. It is estimated that as many as 70 percent of the fish released at Turtle Rock return there, instead of making the turn and heading up the Wenatchee. Big surprise. Anglers that cast bobber and jig set ups from the man-made point above the dam on the Chelan County side have some good days there. There are some good reports occasionally from anglers who fish from the docks at Lincoln Park. Traffic should be heavier here since the parking fees have been removed. There is still a fee for launch a boat here, though, but it would be worth it to run up and try fishing off the hatchery entrance on Turtle Rock. Fishing below Wells Dam should be good again this year. When the salmon are gone the steelhead bite really picks up here. I like to both back-troll and to fish bobbers below the dam. There is a lot of water to try below Wells Dam.
