Earlier this summer I reported that I saw work being done on the Million Dollar Mile North boat access. I called Aulin Smith, a WDFW staffer, and asked if the work had been completed. He did me the favor of running down there and checking it out. It’s done and if you like fishing this mid-section of Banks Lake, you are in for a treat. They have put in a new 80-foot plank boat launch, a vault toilet, paved parking for 16 trucks and trailers and more! I have used the old launch, and it was only really usable when the water was up. Aulin believes that they have made the small basin deeper, too. I have always liked launching here as it put me right where I want to fish. The shoreline from the launch offers great fishing for walleye and smallmouth bass. I also like to fish for bass on the shore opposite the launch and it’s a quick run to reach great fishing areas. I was really nervous about launching the Bob Feil Smoker Craft there, but now I can’t wait to use it. Funding for the project was through the Recreation and Conservation Office.
