By Eric Granstrom

For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. I had spinal surgery back in 2003 to help with disc degeneration in my lower back. I was at the end of a very long rope living with pain and decided on surgery as a last resort. Thankfully, knock on wood, my back has been really good since then with only a few flareups here and there along the way. I'm not sure how I did it last weekend, but my back has been out since Sunday morning. If you've never had back problems before, consider yourself lucky. Strangely, you never realize how many times you drop things until your back is out. Reaching to the floor to pick whatever I dropped up can be excruciating. In addition, putting on pants or socks is pretty much out of the question without help and don't get me started on going to the bathroom! Sitting here with my arms extended to type this report is also very difficult. The thought of casting a line or bouncing around in a boat right now is out of the question. Here's hoping tomorrow is a better day, knock on wood. Speaking of, I'll discuss this superstition Thursday. Until next time, Good Fishing!
