By Eric Granstrom

For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. My wife gives me a hard time because I think a lot about stuff. When I lay my head on my pillow at night and close my eyes, my mind wanders from one topic to the next at 100-miles an hour. When it comes to fish, I wonder about a ton of stuff. Like, how is it that a salmon knows how to find the very waters where it was born to start the cycle all over again? When Dad and I fished Lake Roosevelt a couple weekends ago, we caught a tagged rainbow trout. The tag said it was from the Spokane Tribal Fisheries with a tag number and phone number to call. I called and left a message including my name and where we caught the fish. I wondered where this fish had come from and how old it was. Come to find out, it was part of the Spokane Tribal Fishing Derby last spring and summer. It was one of 20,000 tagged fish released in May at Seven Bays. Six months later, we caught it 30-miles downstream up from Spring Canyon. I wonder what stories that fish could tell. Until next time, Good Fishing!
