In the grand scheme of things, the winter fishery for kokanee on Lake Chelan is a fairly new development. Kokanee have probably been available during the winter months forever, but the number of anglers that have been pursuing them with very good success has only been a regular thing in the past five years or so. This is in part due to the dramatic increase in the popularity of fishing for kokanee. One of the drivers for this is the appearance of some very large kokanee in the lake. Last season they were the smallest in years, but the fun of fishing for them kept anglers on the water all year long. To help anglers who would like to get in on this action, the Coastal Conservation Association and Hooked on Toys have partnered to offer a free seminar on winter fishing for kokanee on Tuesday, December 10th. Mike Roth, of Team Takedown Guide Service and Brian Mulligan will be there to share their tackle and techniques that put limits of kokanee in the cooler over the winter months. The seminar will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Hooked on Toys in Wenatchee. There will be raffles for prizes during the event.
