I got a note from Paul Hoffarth at the WDFW reminding everyone that the Hanford Reach opened to fishing for fall salmon on August 15th, and the daily limit this year allows for two adult Chinook. More good news is that the number of adults passing over McNary Dam is ahead of last year’s count. To celebrate the fall fishing season on the Reach Hooked on Toys and the local chapter of Coastal Conservation Association are having a special event at the store from 5 to 7:30 on Wednesday, September 4th. There will be presentations on fishing techniques to help you be more successful this season, and other things planned for the evening. Look for more details in my reports and Weekly Column in the NCW Nickel Ads. On Saturday, September 14th the Wenatchee Sportsmen’s Association is holding their annual Free Kids Hunting and Fishing day at the gun club on Fancher Heights. Kids age 6 to 16 can shoot rifles, shotguns and bow and arrows and learn about a variety of outdoor activities. It starts at 9 and ends at 3. Even the hot dogs and water are free at this one. It’s the best free event in the valley.
