By Eric Granstrom

For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. When was the last time you challenged yourself to go back to the basics on a fishing trip? I mean like when you were a kid. I remember vividly times when Dad and I would go out in the yard and water the grass down just before nightfall. Then Dad would stick a pitchfork into the ground and grab the top of the handle and rattle it back and forth so you could feel the vibrations beneath your feet. He'd do that a few times and then we'd go inside. 20-minutes later, we'd go outside with a flashlight and look for nightcrawlers. You couldn't shine the flashlight right on them, or they'd quickly suck back up in their holes. We'd fill a Folgers can with 30 or 40 of the shiny, wiggly creatures for our fishing trip the next day. We'd dump some dirt and shredded newspaper in the can with the worms as well. We'd go out on the lake the next day, and that's all we would use! A plain, old fishing pole. Some mono-filament line. A worm hook and some nightcrawlers. And if memory serves me right, we caught fish. Until next time, Good Fishing!
