If you haven’t heard, the annual Banks Lake Triple Fish Challenge derby that was held in late April was a huge success. Derby organizers are Peggy Nevismal, of the Grand Coulee Dam Chamber of Commerce and Lou Nevismal at Coulee Playland. It attracted 71 participants this year. That’s an increase of 54 percent over last year’s event. This bump in participation came even with a conflict with the Potholes Open Bass Tournament. That took some boats away that usually attend the Triple Fish event. The big winner this year was Brad Phillips, of Moses Lake, who has been coming almost every year with his two boys. Brad pocketed $730.00 in prize money and walked away with a pile of fishing tackle and two new deep cycle batteries. I am always impressed with the number of kids that get to be a part of the event. It has become a real family affair. Vendors that are looking for events to sponsor next year should give one serious consideration. It is very well organized and the people that participate love the event. You can contact Peggy at the Chamber office or Lou at Coulee Playland to get all the details.
