By Dave Graybill

It had been a while since I had been able to fish with Brian Nielson, of BJs Guide Service and our friend James Lebow. We have had many great fishing adventures over the years and we got together to fish Moses Lake last Thursday. Launching at Blue Heron Park near the I-90 Bridge we headed up lake. After much debate we decided to start at the flat just above Connelly Park. I had been on this flat on Wednesday afternoon and had the best action of the day here. Starting low on the flat in 10 feet of water we didn’t get into the fish until we were further up lake. To our surprise the fish were in just six feet of water or less. We were running light bottom walkers with either Butterfly blades or purple Smile blades. The walleye weren’t large, most of them were 14-inchers, but we had a dozen in the live well in a couple of hours. The bite slowed about 9 o’clock so we tried some spots further up in the north end, but never got another bite. I usually make a pass or two on this flat every time I fish Moses Lake and this was a reminder why.
