By Eric Granstrom

For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. As I mentioned last week, I was on vacation. I'd planned to spend some time around the 4th on the beaches of Grayland, south of Westport. I'd already taken my boat over and stowed it up north because the end of my trip would land me in Anacortes and I'd planned to do some crabbing and maybe salmon fishing. So in Grayland, I had a couple tackle boxes and two lighter weight, 10-foot salmon rods with me with baitcaster reels. If you haven't been to that area of what's called "South Beach", you have to go. There are miles upon miles of endless beach which are drivable. I parked the truck and trailer and set out a lawn chair and fire pit and did a lot of nothing. Although I did watch several guys out surf fishing. Finally, curiosity caused me to ask about the approach and what they were catching. Easy enough, they were catching sea perch using a drop sinker with a couple hooks and plastic worms. I had to try it. And low and behold, I caught five which made a tasty meal. Be warned, that water's cold! Until next time, Good Fishing!
