By Dave Graybill

The walleye fishing on Banks Lake has been so good that my brother Rick and I just had to go back. He and I had four trips in a row where we limited, and we saw no reason why we couldn’t do it again. The fish thought otherwise. For no apparent reason they snubbed us last Tuesday. We fished the same areas that produced before. We fished the same crank baits that worked and Slow Death hook rigs that were irresistible on previous trips. Not this time. Conditions were the same. No drastic change in water or daytime temperatures. No heavy winds or anything that we could point to for the fish to change their attitudes. The week prior we put three limits in the boat by 2 in the afternoon. On our last trip we fished until 3 and had just six in the cooler. I am not giving up on Banks. There are still plenty of fish up there. I think I will attend the free seminar at Bob Feil Boats and Motors on Wednesday, August 2nd and sharpen my skills for salmon fishing. I still need to put some salmon in my freezer. So I need to get up to the Brewster!
