By Eric Granstrom

For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. Every time I sit down to write an article for this report, I can't help but think of my Dad. He introduced me to the outdoors. He taught me just about everything I know of the outdoors. He is my hunting partner and my best friend. He'll be 75 January 6th and I'm so happy to have he, Mom and my brother Shawn to my house for the holidays. He and Shawn are trying to fill my brother's cow elk tag for the Malaga Unit here close to Wenatchee. I'm not sure if it's my own advancing age or I'm suffering from low testosterone or a combination of the two, but I can't help being nostalgic this time of year. Christmas-time for me as a kid was pretty stressful because of the adult's heavy use of alcohol to temporarily mask tension created by the undo influence of having to get presents, a lack of funds and general lean times. But as those years disappear long into the dust of my rear view mirror, I somehow find solace in the fact that at least we had each other. And for now, we still do. Until next time, Merry Christmas and Good Fishing!
