I sent a text to Austin Moser last week, saying that it looked like the weather was going to be good at Coulee Dam on Saturday. He got right back to me. He was moving his trailer up to Coulee Playland for the winter fishing season and would be going to Lake Roosevelt on Saturday and invited me to come along with a couple of friends. I met them at Coulee Playland and we ran up to the lake. Instead of launching at Spring Canyon we put the boat in at Crescent Beach. There is a good concrete ramp here with a good dock and restrooms. This is a great place to launch to fish the bay and the can line above the dam. When the reservoir water level is lowered later in the winter it is high and dry, but it is perfect right now. We had good luck in the vicinity of this spot last time we fished Roosevelt, but the fish just weren’t there this time. Granted we were targeting kokanee and ran only kokanee gear. We did get some nice rainbow while we were at it. The kokanee will be here anytime soon, though.
