Fishing opportunities abound in Eastern Washington. I have had a chance to sample several recently, and would encourage anglers to get out while we continue to have warm and clear weather. Banks Lake is producing walleye at a great clip. Fish of 13 to 14 inches are plentiful, and I recently put walleye of 24 and 26 inches in my boat. Potholes Reservoir walleye fishing hasn’t lost its momentum and walleye action is amazing. Fishing with Shelby Ross on Potholes he put two limits in the boat in just over two hours. If we have another mild winter the walleye fishing will continue to be good through late fall and even through the winter months. Fishing for summer-run salmon in the Brewster and Bridgeport areas is great. Anglers will be impressed with how bright these fish are, and although they will be releasing a lot of wild fish there’s a chance of getting a quality keeper. Fall salmon are showing up in the Hanford Reach and fishing will improve rapidly as fish move up the Columbia.
