If you have ever wanted to try walleye fishing, this would be a good year to get out and do it. There was brief pause in the action on Potholes Reservoir when the fish were spawning, but they are back on the bite. It took over 40 pounds to win the Spring Classic Walleye Tournament at Potholes this year, so along with limits of walleye anglers are getting some nice big ones in the mix, too. I also hear that the bite is on at Moses Lake. This reservoir is shallower than potholes and the water warms up faster. A friend sent me a photo of a 27-inch walleye he got there recently, and I can’t wait to get down there myself. The hot rig to catch walleye on is the Slow Death Hook rig, just like last year. I hope to hit it this weekend and I suggest that you check out next week’s NCW Nickel Newspaper to read about how I do. By the way, my column appears in every NCW Nickel Ads newspaper in Eastern Washington now, so you can read it from here clear over to Spokane. Trout anglers are also doing well on most of our region’s lakes.
